Master Irvin's House of Discipline “Where Discipline Is Your Weapon”
Ages 4–12

Kids Martial Arts

Confidence that holds up in the real world.

Point-sparring and trophies look good, but they do not prepare a child for what happens on the playground. Our Bully Proof curriculum teaches children how bullies think, how to stand their ground, and the proven self-defense skills to protect themselves — taught with the discipline this school has been built on for over thirty years.

  • Recognising a situation before it turns physical, and how to defuse it.
  • Standing your ground: voice, posture, and knowing when to walk away.
  • Practical self-defense against a larger, stronger person.
  • Focus, respect, and discipline that carries into the classroom and the house.

Class times: Beginners ages 4–12, Tuesday & Friday 5:00–6:30 PM. Intermediate ages 7–12, Monday & Thursday 5:00–6:30 PM.

Young Adult Martial Arts

The pressure changes. The principle does not.

Teenagers face something different from playground pushing: social pressure, escalation in front of an audience, and situations that can turn serious fast. Teens train alongside adults in the evening class, with the same emphasis on judgement first and technique second.

  • Reading escalation and choosing the exit before it closes.
  • Self-defense technique that works against an adult-sized attacker.
  • Conditioning and sparring control in a disciplined environment.
  • The confidence that comes from knowing what you can actually do.

Class times: Tuesday & Friday, 6:30–8:00 PM, with the adult class.

Women's Self-Defense

Four Saturdays. Skills you keep.

A focused four-week session covering awareness, avoidance, and the physical techniques that matter when someone will not back off. No martial arts experience required, and no expectation that you continue afterward — though many do.

  • Situational awareness and the habits that prevent most incidents.
  • Escaping grabs, holds, and being taken to the ground.
  • Striking targets that work regardless of size difference.
  • Rehearsing under pressure, so it is there when you need it.

Class times: Saturdays, 7:00 AM–12:00 PM window, by appointment. Call to find out when the next four-week session starts.

Adults and Seniors

Traditional training, practical application, at any age.

Forms, technique, conditioning and sparring in the traditional Tae Kwon Do curriculum, with real-world self-defense worked into the instruction rather than sold as a separate class. Adults start at every age and every fitness level.

  • Traditional forms, terminology, and belt progression.
  • Self-defense application built into every technique.
  • Conditioning that meets you where you are — adults start here at every age and fitness level, seniors included.
  • A path to black belt, if you want it.

Class times: Tuesday & Friday, 6:30–8:00 PM.

Weapons

Traditional weapons, taught the way he teaches them everywhere else.

Master Irvin has run weapons training for JROTC cadets at their summer camps for seven consecutive years, and for the Louisiana State Police. The same instruction is available here on Saturday mornings, by appointment.

  • Traditional weapons forms and handling, including nunchaku and staff.
  • Control and discipline before speed — weapons are taught to students who have earned them.
  • Open to students already training here, and to outside groups.

Private Lessons

One-on-one, at your pace.

Saturday mornings, 7:00 AM to 12:00 PM, are set aside for instruction that does not fit a group class. Everything in this window is by appointment — call to schedule.

  • Private instruction — for beginners who would rather start one-on-one, and for belt candidates preparing to test.
  • Family classes — parents and children on the floor together.
  • Catching up — for students who have missed a stretch and want to stay with their group.
