Adviser to 11 public schools

Master Irvin serves as the official martial arts adviser and instructor for eleven Caddo Parish public schools — working with students, staff and administrators on self-defense, conflict de-escalation, and the discipline that holds a program together.

JROTC

Seven years of summer camp training

For seven consecutive years, Master Irvin has run self-defense and weapons training for hundreds of JROTC cadets at their two-week summer camps — hand-to-hand fundamentals, traditional weapons, and the discipline the program is built on.

  • Self-defense fundamentals for large cadet groups.
  • Traditional weapons instruction, including nunchaku and staff.

Louisiana State Police

Self-defense and weapons instruction for troopers — technique selected for people who cannot choose to walk away from a confrontation.

Juvenile detention centers

Training for guards at the state's juvenile detention facilities, including the Bossier maximum facility, where control and restraint matter more than striking.

Free classes

Inner-city Shreveport and Bossier City

Master Irvin has taught free community classes in Shreveport and Bossier City inner-city neighborhoods for years — for kids whose families could not otherwise pay for instruction.

Several of the masters he has trained and promoted started in exactly that kind of class.
